Sat Apr 13, 2019
The Dominican University baseball team scored 39 runs and pounded out 32 hits in sweeping a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) doubleheader from the Edgewood College Eagles on Saturday in Madison, Wisconsin.  With the wins, the Stars improve to 14-11 on the season and 8-2 in NACC play.
"We challenged the guys to not come out flat and they came out of the chute ready to play right away," said Steve Hardman, the Stars' head baseball coach. "We scored in 13 of the 18 innings we played today and continued to put pressure and take advantage of freebies and mistakes made by the other team. Hayden Young didn't have his 'A' game today but battled to get us through seven innings before handing it off to the bullpen there.  In the second game Bryant Bagshaw threw great for eight innings."
"We did exactly what we needed to do today," continued Hardman, "winning two games for a good start to the conference weekend. Today was behind our bats and we are putting ourselves in a good position as we move into the second half of the conference season."
Dominican's Sunday series against the Marian Sabres was postponed on Saturday evening due to Sunday's forecast.  The Stars and Sabres will try again on Tuesday, April 16, at Schaumburg Boomers Stadium.  First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
