Ray Named NACC Student-Athlete Of The Week

Dominican University's Timiya Ray has been named the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Women's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week the conference announced on Tuesday morning.  Ray, a junior, averaged 13.0 points, 13.0 rebounds, 5.5 blocks and 2.0 steals per game.  In more than 67 minutes of floor time, the Hammond native did not commit one turnover in helping Dominican to a pair of wins.
In Wednesday's non-conference win over St. Mary's (IN), Ray scored 14 points, including the game-winner at the buzzer in a 60-58 win for the Stars. Ray flirted with her first career triple-double in the contest, adding eight rebounds and eight blocked shots. Ray then poured in 12 points and pulled down a career-high 18 rebounds - 12 on the offensive glass - to lead Dominican to a 75-55 win at Rockford Saturday to push the Stars to 5-2 overall and 1-1 in the NACC.
Ray and the Stars return to action on Tuesday evening, traveling to Madison, Wisconsin, to take on the Edgewood College Eagles.  Tipoff between the Stars and Eagles is set for 7:00 p.m.
